World War I draft registration, 05 Jun 1917. Henry was already married with one child.

1920 Census
Henry and Eva were living in the Morley Township of Scott County with daughter, Lois (5) and son J.L. (2). Henry is listed as a share cropper who lives on a farm with a mortgage.

1930 Census
Henry is now a widow living in the Morley Township of Scott County. Eva passed away when their youngest daughter was about 3 years old. Henry's kids are Lois (15), Joseph L. (11), and Margaret (7). They are still living on a farm, but now they are renters. Henry is still farming.

1940 Census
Both Lois and Joseph are no longer living with their father - Lois is married and Joseph has moved to Idaho. Margaret (18) is the only child still living at home. She is working as a librarian in the High School. Henry is now listed as a supervisor, but cannot make out the name of the company.
