World War I draft registration
Luther was a 22 year old farm laborer living with his parents at the time of the draft. He described himself as a tall, stout man with blue eyes and dark brown hair.

1930 census
By this time Luther and Celeste are seperated. Luther is living in Ward 3 of St. Louis city. There is woman living with him who is listed as a lodger. He is a laborer in building construction. They are living at 1004 Madison Street, apartment AA and paying $20 a month in rent. Luther is 35 and listed that he was 24 when he was first married.

1940 census
Luther is now 45 and divorced. He has moved back in with his mother on his parents farm in Scott County, Missouri. His father has now passed away. Three of his nephews are living with them also. Luther is now a farmer.

1930 census
Celeste has Earline and they are living in Ward 17 of St. Louis city. They are living with Celeste´s sister and her family. Celeste is 26 and has put it down the she is divorced. Earline is 7 and attending school. Celeste is a laundress working in a laundry.

Veteran Headstone Application
Luther´s niece, Mrs. Iva (Kneezle) Gibson applied for this headstone marker on December 28, 1959. Luther was a Private, First Class in Company D, 313 Engineers during WWI. He enlisted May 29, 1918 and received an Honorable discharge on June 18, 1919.
